Welcome to Redbourn Park – Grovehill. This is a very special school providing bespoke education for 13 young people with a primary diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) aged between 7-11. We work in conjunction with the children, families, specialists and our community to ensure that we develop life-long learners with resilience and understanding.

Whilst our core subjects of maths, English and PSHCE are a primary focus, we also strive to develop the whole child through our creative curriculum and therapy input. Our whole school adopts a therapeutic approach thinking first about enabling the children to feel safe, before being ambitious with our goals. Success for our students can look very different from a conventional school. Trying a new food, reading aloud, or advancing personal bests are all celebratory days here.

Despite our best efforts, sometimes it can be too much for our pupils, in which case students can step out with a trusted adult and return when ready.

KS2 Support & Interventions

At our school, we are committed to supporting every pupil to achieve their best. We use our learning assessment platform IXL to help identify any gaps in knowledge and understanding. This allows teachers to build a clear picture of each pupil’s needs and plan support that is right for them. Interventions are delivered in a range of ways, including both play-based and more structured sessions. Our support staff also play an important role in delivering additional intervention outside of core lessons.

We place equal importance on pupils’ wellbeing. Throughout the day, pupils have regular check-ins with key, trusted members of staff to ensure they feel safe, supported and ready to learn. Where further support is needed, we can refer pupils to our therapy team to provide additional, specialised support.
